Eighth Grade Objectives
The eighth grade academic objectives are listed below:
- Solve practical math problems involving whole numbers using real life information
- Use information displayed in line, bar, circle, and picture graphs to make comparisons, predictions, and inferences
- Solve three step word problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Convert decimals to fractions and then reverse
- Solve word problems using percents (for example sales tax) to find the total cost of an item
- Use equations to solve problems
- Demonstrate an understanding of both simple and compound interest
- Solve problems related to perimeter, area, and volume
- Solve problems related to ratio, proportion, percent
- Understand and solve problems related to geometry
- Read with comprehension
- Demonstrate an expanded vocabulary
- Recite and write poems
- Demonstrate an understanding of compound subjects and predicates
- Use common and proper nouns appropriately
- Use words such as their, they’re, there, your, you’re, and so forth accurately
- Write in sequence
- Write a letter of application
